I’m Still Here, and Gaming Once Again

7 Jul

Despite the two week break, I’m still going here at TinyNin. Good news! My cast is off. I do have a two-finger splint, but hey, eight fingers, I’m not complaining. This means my typing speed is up, and also, I can play games again! Back into Kid Icarus: Uprising now. Speaking of Kid Icarus, it’s another reason for the recent lack of posts. I’ve been busy on another project here, Orbitars. That’s kept me busy for a couple of weeks, and should continue to for another week. I’ll be back to normal speed soon.

Anyway, I’m in a good mood, so have a great day everyone!

Thoughts on the 3DS XL

22 Jun

Today, I arrived home to discover the 3DS XL. Turned on the Aqua Blue*, booted up eShop and checked Nintendo Direct. Wow. The… XL? (LL in Japan) Not an E3 announcement, I thought the rumours had been crushed. But no, here we have a 3DS with 90% larger screens, 3.5-6.5 hours of battery life, and actual buttons for Home, Select and Start. I have a couple of questions though. Why no second Circle Pad? I guess this makes sense as the 3DS’ shape hasn’t changed too significantly. Also, will the 3D “sweet spot” be larger/smaller? Will the 3D just look weird? We’ll have to wait and see. But only a month. And you’ll need US$200. Again, wow.

Note: I’m unable to accurately review things (ie Dream Drop) due my broken finger. Sorry about that.

What are your thoughts? Comment! Vote!

*Ok, I never turn it off. I’ve only turned it off about four times, EVER.

Don’t worry, it won’t actually have white lines on the screen.

Pokemon AR Searcher Details

17 Jun

Nintendo has revealed a lot of new info about AR Searcher on the Japanese official site. The mystery Pokemon from earler posts has been revealed as, er, Torneus’ new form. It’s odd to say the least. I originally thought this looked like a great game. But  now, I don’t know about it. The first thing that struck me is the pointless story. Dream clouds? What? Then I saw the gameplay video (see the  official site). That animation… is that finished? Ugh. I no longer have any plans to buy this game to be honest, even though I want more AR games, especially shooters. Six days to change my mind, Nintendo.

9 and 1/2 Top 3DS Games to Play with One Hand

7 Jun

I fractured a finger in my left hand two days ago so naturally, as a gamer, I tried them all with my right hand. Here are the best of them. I’ll add pictures later, but right now MY HAND HURTS! Edit: Thank Glob for Zemanta!

1:

Picopict

Art Style: Picopict

Art Style: Picopict

Uses only the stylus. Also try Rhythm Heaven.

2:

Kirby’s Adventure

It’s so easy you can use your thumb on the analog pad  and stretch your fingers across to the other side.

3:

Colors 3D

Requires absolutely no skill. Apart from artistic.

4:

FreakyForms

A combination of all of the above. Create, then use really easy stylus controls to play.

5:

Warioware Touched!

WarioWare: Touched!

WarioWare: Touched!

You only need one hand. Try DIY if you’re more creative.

6:

Slow Puzzle/RPG Games

Pokemon, Prof Layton, anything. If it doesn’t involve action, you’ll still pwn it.

7:

Face Raiders

One handed fun. The only thing is you look like a mega-derp when you play it in hospital. >.<

8:

AR Games

You can just create, or you can try playing.

9:

Mario Kart 7 using first-person mode

Actually, no, don’t.

  • You can’t press L, although I still won an entire balloon battle without L thanks to the derpy AI.

    Rhythm Heaven

    Rhythm Heaven

  • First-person mode is terrible and shoe-horned.
  • It just isn’t viable for online.

9.5:

Streetpass Mii Plaza

GO FOR A WALK. Then get nice slow stuff to do when you get back home.

Japanese Mario Tennis Yoshi Hunt QR Codes

2 Jun

You may have noticed the Yoshi costume QR codes that unlock different coloured Yoshi costumes in-game. (I posted about them briefly back here.)Well, I’ve got three that I might as well share. They are Japanese so may not work in all regions (comment!). At the file select screen, press Up on the +pad and Start to scan. Oh, and by the way, sorry about the lack of posts recently, especially to all my new followers. It ain’t usually like this. Expect a lot more very soon.

Hilariously Ironic SNES Controller is Hilariously Ironic

26 May

shaped like a megadrive TT_TTThis Megadrive styled controller was developed by Hudson Soft (then Honey Bee) for the SNES. Now, if the only reason you would choose the Megadrive of the SNES was because it had “better” controllers (ahem), change your mind! I personally find the real Megadrive controllers really comfortable, but that’s probably because I grew up with them. Anyway, look at all those switches! MIND BL000000WN!
